A top farm group gave new machines to the Gwebi College of Agriculture. The gift helps farmers make better crops faster.
The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre sent a tractor, a spray tool, a field tool, and other farm aids. Professor Obert Jiri took the machines to the school on Wednesday.
"Research drives growth," Jiri said. "We need strong farm research to make our land more rich. We thank the Centre for this gift."
Jiri worked with the Centre in 1996. The group has helped Zimbabwe share crop plans with other lands. They teach workers in Zimbabwe, Mexico, and Kenya.
The new machines cut hard work in the fields. They help more women join farm research. The tools make crops work better.
It takes seven years to prepare a new kind of crop for farms. Bad weather or bugs can extend this time.
Mr. Mainassara Zaman-Allah leads the Centre in Zimbabwe. He said they help 22 lands make better crops. Zimbabwe makes 13 types of crops. They want Zimbabwe to grow more food from each piece of land.
"New bugs and plant sick come up," he said. "We fight bugs that hurt corn. We need plants that live in hot air and less rain."
The Centre helps Zimbabwe grow food in difficult times. These machines make this work faster and better, helping small farms feed more people.
