Daniel Kwame Ofosu-Appiah wants the General Legal Council to punish former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame. He claims Dame acted badly during the ambulance trial involving Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson and businessman Richard Jakpa. Court records show Dame tried to change what Jakpa would say during the trial. Audio recordings prove Dame met secretly with Jakpa four times at a private house without telling Jakpa's lawyer about them.
The High Court accepted the secret recordings as evidence last June, and the Court of Appeal agreed with this decision. Jakpa told the court under oath that Dame sent him WhatsApp messages asking for documents. According to the complaint filed against him, Dame broke seven important legal rules. The rules cover things like lying to courts and trying to change witness testimony.
Ofosu-Appiah says Dame hurt people's trust in lawyers and courts across Ghana. He wants the Disciplinary Committee to remove Dame from the lawyer group completely. The Legal Profession Act gives the committee the power to remove lawyers who break the rules. Dame's actions made the whole justice system look bad to ordinary citizens. The committee needs to act quickly to fix this serious problem.
