Coach Salahuddin questions Bangladesh's ODI strategy, urges role clarity

Mohammad Salahuddin, Bangladesh's senior assistant coach, identifies significant issues with the team's One-Day International strategy. The Tigers have achieved better results in Test and Twenty20 formats compared to ODIs, despite ODIs being their traditionally strongest area. Salahuddin notes that Test cricket features a stable lineup with players who understand their specific roles. Twenty20 internationals have reached similar consistency levels with an established team structure. ODI cricket remains problematic due to calculation requirements and reliance on experienced players.

The middle-order batting positions present particular challenges after veteran departures. Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah previously anchored these positions with consistent performance. Current replacement players lack regular middle-order experience in domestic competitions. ODI format demands rapid role adjustments based on match situations and wicket losses. Salahuddin believes improved situational reading and tactical adaptation will enhance ODI performance once players develop these skills.
