Today members of the Parliamentary group that watches over transportation kicked off their national trip around Zimbabwe. They plan to check how the road administration agency Zinara spends public money. The team leader Tawanda Karikoga brought the group to their first stop at Dema Toll Plaza. Workers have already begun building a replacement plaza along the Chitungwiza-Hwedza highway.
The road agency closed part of the Chitungwiza-Hwedza route at kilometer marker 60. This section will stay blocked until August 31 as construction teams finish the new toll station. Last Friday, Transportation Minister Felix Mhona made this move official through a notice in the Government Gazette. The committee wants to see firsthand how Zinara manages these important road projects across the country.
