Court Orders Reinstatement of Isiolo Assembly Clerk

A Nyeri court told officials to put the Isiolo County Assembly Clerk back in his job after they fired him without warning. Judge Onesmus Makwhile issued the order after Salad Boru Guracha went to court for help. The court will hear the full case on June 25 through video conference. Officials must answer the lawsuit before June 24.

Guracha lost his job on June 16 when the board sent him home on forced leave. His firing connects to efforts aimed at removing Governor Abdi Guyo from office. The clerk worried that county leaders might hire someone else for his position during the court fight. He claims officials broke the law when they suspended him without proper reasons. Assembly rules allow clerk suspensions only for serious problems like stealing money or refusing to work.

Guracha says the speaker fired him alone without holding a board meeting first. A board member confirmed that no official vote happened to remove the clerk. The clerk had cancelled public meetings about the governor's impeachment case after another court stopped the removal process. All 18 county assembly members want to remove Governor Guyo for misconduct and breaking laws. The planned impeachment sessions failed after chaos broke out at the assembly building.
