Court Smashes ULS Power Grab in Shocking Leadership Fallout

A judge named Ssekaana Musa made some important choices about how lawyers work together in Uganda. He said some people did wrong things when they fired important leaders at the Uganda Law Society.

Last year, a group of people kicked out their leader, Isaac, and his friend, Anthony. They said these two men did bad things. The next day, Isaac and his friends told other people they could not work anymore. They picked a new person named Eddie to help run things.

The group wanted everyone to come to a big meeting in December. They said they needed to pick new people to help choose judges. They also wanted to check money records from last year.

A man named Mugisha did not like this. He went to tell the judge these people broke the rules. He thought they wanted to hide things about money and stop other people from having their say.

The judge listened carefully to everyone's comments. He decided the group could not fire Isaac and Anthony. He said they broke the rules when they picked Eddie as a new helper. The judge told them they must let Phillip and Geoffrey come back to work.

The judge made a very clear point. He said no one person can make big choices alone at the Uganda Law Society. Everyone must work together and follow the proper rules when they want to change things.

The Uganda Law Society has not said what they think about the judge's decision. Some smart people who know about laws think this means the group must change how it does things and ensure everyone follows the rules when they make big choices.
