Two men escaped from police at the Chitungwiza Magistrates Court yesterday. The police are asking the public for help to find them.
Luckmore Chakanza is a police spokesperson. He said Tendai Mawire, 30, and Alex Mubayi ran away around 10:30 a.m.
The police arrested Mawire in December. They said he stole a smartphone. Mubayi was also arrested. The police said he took a tray, blankets, and a bedbase.
The court was going to hear the men's cases on January 23. The police brought them to the courthouse. They handcuffed the two men together. The men had to sit on a bench. Lawyers were looking at their files.
But the men saw a chance to get away. They walked out of the courtroom. No one noticed them leave.
The police are now looking for the two men. They want to catch them and bring them back.
