Cupertino leak says Apple iPhone 17 Air flaunts 12GB RAM, base at 8GB

Apple plans to boost memory in three upcoming iPhone 17 models according to fresh leaks from industry insiders. The iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will each pack 12GB of RAM when they launch. The standard iPhone 17 will stick with 8GB of memory like current iPhone 16 models. This creates a bigger gap between Apple's budget and premium phone options. The company appears ready to make customers pay more for better performance.

The iPhone 17 Air will replace the current iPhone 16 Plus model in Apple's lineup. Sources suggest Apple wants to position this ultra-thin device closer to its Pro models rather than basic phones. The Air model could cost as much as the smaller iPhone 17 Pro, giving buyers a choice between power and sleek design. All four new models will run on Apple's A19 chip family for processing power. The standard iPhone 17 and Air will use the regular A19 chip.

Apple reserves the faster A19 Pro chip for its expensive Pro models only. The extra memory will help phones handle Apple Intelligence features more smoothly. Current iPhone 16 phones all have the same 8GB of RAM regardless of model. The new memory boost could make future AI tools work better on pricier phones. Apple seems determined to create clearer differences between its cheap and expensive iPhone options.
