It would have been particularly interesting to compare this with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Was this a success story for the company?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt adventure game has sold approximately 50 million units, which is comparable to Skyrim, released 2-3 years earlier, and sold about 60 million units. Like Skyrim, The Witcher 3 is still being ported to various new platforms.

$750 million turnover or profit? If it's turnover, what were the total costs of making the game and DLC? Turnover doesn't provide much insight without knowing the costs.

The report does not include refunded sales resulting from previous issues. It is unclear how many sales fall into this category.

They are doing well. It was especially smart of them to collaborate with Nvidia and make their game a tech demo for Nvidia's latest technologies. As a result, Cyberpunk continues to be featured in reviews and on tech sites for its use of graphic techniques such as DLSS (i.e., Deep learning super sampling), ray tracing, and path tracing.

You're acting as if Cyberpunk 2077 was made as an Nvidia tech demo, but something like DLSS is far too new for that. CD Projekt RED announced Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2012, while the first implementation of DLSS was released in 2019.

So, it's not very surprising that they would enter into a partnership with one or more GPU makers to push the limits. It would have been more surprising, in my humble opinion, if they had exclusively partnered with AMD.

There's a reason why Nvidia cards are selling and being used so much; it's not just marketing. Just take a look at, for example, the hardware survey on Steam, and see how many gamers are using Nvidia cards. Sure, fanboys can argue about Nvidia vs. AMD, but Steam clearly shows that Nvidia won that battle a long time ago, in every aspect.

Over the years, AMD hadn't built a good reputation among gamers.

In terms of the price-to-performance ratio for graphics cards, AMD is doing decently, but when it comes to software, especially in upscaling and encoding, Nvidia takes the lead.

Many people remain loyal to Nvidia and Intel because they wonder why they should choose another brand if they've never had any issues. There are too many die-hard fans who cling to the notion that AMD is bad and Nvidia/Intel is good.

The only time AMD can significantly gain market share is when they outperform Nvidia in terms of price and performance in the low- and mid-range segments, to the extent that even the most loyal Nvidia users are inclined to try AMD.
