Damson Idris lost Black Panther role to David Jonsson

Some guy allegedly lost his shot at Black Panther over an old dating situation, and Marvel handed the mantle to someone else instead. Damson Idris was reportedly in the running, but David Jonsson landed it during Ryan Coogler's cast reveal for the third film in the franchise.

Jonsson isn't stepping into Chadwick Boseman's old shoes, since his character is actually T'Challa's son all grown up, the kid who showed up in Wakanda Forever. But Marvel picked the legacy route over a straight recast this time.

Word on the street points to bad blood behind the scenes. Not talent or chemistry, apparently. Whispers say Coogler skipped Idris because Michael B. Jordan supposedly has issues with him, and a post floating around claims that beef started when Idris dated Jordan's former girlfriend, Lori Harvey.

Idris built his name on Snowfall and F1, and fans wanted him in the suit for his action-star energy. Jonsson, only 23, has been climbing fast since breaking out in A Quiet Place: Day One, and his physical presence apparently gave him the edge for the role.
