Dan Evans Shocks Frances Tiafoe to Reach Queen's Last 16

Dan Evans beat Frances Tiafoe 7-5 6-2 at the Queen's tennis tournament. The British player defeated the world number 13 American in straight sets. Evans had not beaten a top-20 player since 2023 when he won against Alex de Minaur. His ranking fell from 21st to 199th after several tough years. The wildcard entry gave him a chance to face strong competition again.

Tiafoe reached the French Open quarter-finals but struggles on grass courts. Evans played excellent tennis during the hot London afternoon. He broke serve at 3-3 in the first set but Tiafoe fought back quickly. The American took control for ten minutes before Evans recovered. The home crowd cheered as Evans won the set 7-5.

Evans dominated the second set with five straight games. A lucky net cord shot helped him secure a double break at 3-1. He closed out the match without trouble as fans gave him a standing ovation. The victory puts Evans into the tournament's next round. His ranking should improve after this impressive performance against quality opposition.
