Daniel Afriyie Barnieh Leaves FC Zurich After Contract Termination

FC Zurich kicked Daniel Afriyie Barnieh out the door after both sides agreed to cut ties. The Ghana striker packed his bags and left Switzerland behind after just 18 months with the club. Barnieh signed a three and half year deal when he arrived from Hearts of Oak back in January 2023. The 24-year-old forward never quite clicked with his new team despite showing some promise. Both the player and club decided to part ways early rather than continue the struggle.

Barnieh played 50 games for Zurich but only managed to find the net twice during his stay. He also set up four goals for his teammates across all competitions. The young striker found it tough to nail down a regular spot in the starting lineup. His performances came in bursts but never sustained long enough to impress the coaches. The club thanked him for his efforts and wished him luck for whatever comes next.

The Ghana international can sign with any team he wants since he became a free agent. Barnieh will likely hunt for a new club before the upcoming season kicks off. His time in Swiss football taught him valuable lessons about playing at the highest level. The striker hopes his next move will give him more chances to prove his worth. Many clubs across Europe might show interest in the former Hearts of Oak star.
