Dar crowds flock to Chinese culture fest for unity

CRJE East Africa Ltd hosted a cultural showcase on Saturday that brought Chinese traditions to hundreds of attendees in Dar es Salaam. Visitors watched performances of traditional dance, observed calligraphy demonstrations and sampled tea while learning about festivals central to Chinese heritage. The construction and engineering firm organized the gathering to strengthen ties between China and Tanzania beyond commercial projects.

Zhao Yufeng, general director of the company, described the occasion as celebrating decades of cooperation between the two nations, dating back to the TAZARA Railway built during the 1970s. Khalfan Mashi, dean of transport engineering at the National Institute of Transport, thanked organizers for advancing friendship through cultural programming. He noted that CRJE contributed to campus infrastructure improvements at his institution.

Attendee Marystella Munissy said the experience motivated her to pursue Chinese language studies. Company representatives emphasized that cultural initiatives complement infrastructure development by fostering personal connections between populations. The event featured live music, artistic displays and culinary offerings designed to introduce Tanzanian guests to Chinese customs and traditions.
