Deadly Air Raids Send India Pakistan to Brink of War

India attacked Pakistan on Wednesday, hitting what it called terror bases across Pakistan. The military named it Operation Sindoor after 26 people died last month in Indian Kashmir. India says Pakistan helped those killers. Pakistan denies any part in those deaths.

Pakistan reports that eight people died from Indian bombs, some of them children. Prime Minister Sharif called this act war talk. His military claims they shot down five Indian planes. India has not said anything about the lost aircraft. Both countries want all of Kashmir, but control different parts since 1947. They already fought three wars about who should rule there.

The land sits between two nations with nuclear weapons. Many fear these strikes might start something bigger. Both sides tell very different stories about what happened. World leaders watch closely as tension grows between old enemies.
