Desiree Ellis roars as South Africa crushes Ghana in WAFCON opener

South Africa's women crushed Ghana 2-0 during their opening match at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The Banyana Banyana squad dominated Group C action against the Black Queens on Sunday. Coach Desiree Ellis showed respect for her opponents after the final whistle. She admitted Ghana created dangerous moments early during the contest. Ellis said her team fought hard to control the game and secure victory.

The South African manager pointed out how different the match could have been if Ghana had scored first. She believed the opening fifteen minutes presented real danger for her squad. Ellis credited her players for staying focused under pressure from Ghana's attacks. The coach felt proud of how Banyana Banyana responded to difficult situations. Her team managed to turn around a tricky start and claim all three points.

Ghana faces another tough challenge when they meet Mali on Friday afternoon. The Black Queens must bounce back quickly from their disappointing Group C defeat. Their next fixture takes place at Stade Municipal de Berkane with a 4 PM kickoff time. South Africa prepares for their second group match against Tanzania this Friday. Ellis wants her team to maintain momentum and advance to the knockout rounds.
