Dhaka court chases Hasina clan, Joy, Tulip over Purbachal mess

The Anti-Corruption Commission expects courts will announce decisions against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her relatives by November. Six cases target the ousted leader's family over alleged misconduct during the Purbachal New Town Project development. More than 120 witnesses will testify before judges reach final rulings. Commission officials report that most witness statements have concluded.

Two separate courts handle the proceedings with hearings scheduled through October. Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 examines three cases while Court-4 reviews the remaining matters. Authorities filed charges between January 12 and 14 before submitting formal accusations in March. The courts issued arrest warrants against all defendants who remain missing.

Accused individuals span multiple generations of Sheikh Hasina's family plus government workers. The cases center on improper land distribution practices within the housing development project.
