Dhaka dengue toll hits 187, dashboard debuts as cases soar

Bangladesh recorded five additional dengue fatalities within a single day, bringing the annual death toll to 187 cases. Health authorities documented three deaths within Dhaka South City Corporation boundaries and two more in the northern municipal area. Medical facilities admitted 668 new patients during the same period, raising total infections to 43,841 individuals. Hospitals across the nation currently treat 2,016 active dengue cases. The previous year witnessed 575 deaths from the mosquito-borne illness.

Dhaka North City Corporation launched a digital monitoring system on September 23 to track disease outbreaks more effectively. The United Nations Development Programme supported the dashboard creation through the municipal innovation laboratory. Officials described the technology as a transformative approach to urban health management that promotes transparency and accountability. Health ministry representatives and development partners attended the platform demonstration event. Experts emphasized that combating vector-transmitted diseases requires enhanced cooperation, immediate data access, and strategic planning for sustainable urban health systems.
