Dhumal says Pak rivalry is dead, Modi hype drives India

Arun Dhumal praised India's Asia Cup victory against Pakistan while downplaying the historical significance of matches between the two nations. The reelected IPL Governing Council chairman credited Suryakumar Yadav's leadership and Tilak Varma's final performance as examples of composure under stress. Dhumal stated India-Pakistan cricket rivalry no longer carries its former weight because fans cannot identify current Pakistani players compared to past stars like Wasim Akram.

The official confirmed the bilateral series with Pakistan remains blocked per government policy and suggested contests against England or Australia offer greater competition. He expressed confidence that the IPL can become the world's premier sports league and predicted the women's team would capture their World Cup. Dhumal attributed team motivation partly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public support while declining to address political figures who did not congratulate the squad.
