Diddy faces 11 years as sentencing begins in New York

Sean Combs faces sentencing on Friday in a New York federal court after his conviction on prostitution-related charges earlier this year. The music producer was found guilty in July of transporting two women to engage in prostitution, but a jury acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges following a two-month trial. Prosecutors seek a prison term of 11 years and 3 months, while defense attorneys request 14 months with credit for time served.

Combs apologized in a letter to the judge, accepting responsibility for assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura, in 2016 footage, and admitting he hurt another woman identified as Jane. Ventura submitted a victim impact statement expressing fear of retaliation if Combs receives a lenient sentence. Each conviction carries a maximum 10-year sentence. The hearing begins at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
