Diddy begs for mercy in New York court

Sean Combs faces sentencing on Friday after his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but his legal team continues fighting for an acquittal or a drastically reduced term. A jury acquitted the music mogul of racketeering and sex trafficking charges in July, but prosecutors seek a minimum 11-year sentence for the remaining convictions. Defense attorneys requested just 14 months, arguing their client has reformed and needs to reunite with his family.

His lawyers challenged the Mann Act prosecution, claiming the 1910 law was misapplied because the encounters were consensual. Federal judge Arun Subramanian must weigh testimony about violence against multiple women, including Cassandra Ventura, who described years of abuse and physical harm. A probation office recommended a sentence of five to seven years, but the final decision rests entirely with the judge, who considers character, history, and contributions to society when determining the sentence.
