DNCC chief Azaz declares war on Dhaka extortion rackets

Mohammad Azaz announced plans for two new bridges spanning the Norai River during a waste management ceremony at Banasree. The DNCC Administrator explained that these structures would establish direct routes between Aftab Nagar and Banasree residential areas. Samomona Parisha organized the tree plantation event with full backing from DNCC at the Banasree Khalpar location. Current residents must travel lengthy distances via main roads due to limited connectivity options. The proposed Narai Bridge project addresses this transportation gap.

Azaz revealed the waterway once flowed freely during the 1980s before illegal occupation transformed it into a restricted canal. The Water Development Board recently restored its official river designation through DNCC advocacy efforts. Future passenger services might connect Rampura to Sadarghat and Mirpur through linked waterway systems. The administrator discussed ongoing waste improvement projects around Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara Lakes with World Bank support. Extortion networks and sidewalk encroachments continue hampering municipal services across Dhaka.

Tree care requires sustained attention for multiple years beyond initial planting phases. Citizens must participate actively in canal protection and refuse proper disposal practices. Md. Shahbuddin Sikder presided over the environmental initiative.
