Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed vows textbooks, UNICEF, Dhaka

The administration pledged on Sunday to deliver educational materials to students before the start of February. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed announced this commitment following joint committee sessions at the Secretariat. Officials have initiated printing orders for specific grade levels while conducting thorough reviews of receiving schools. The government aims to prevent duplicate distributions and address past misconduct by certain institutions. Authorities plan to complete institutional verification within two weeks.

In previous academic years, textbook deliveries were delayed until March. The ministry advanced preparation schedules to September this year to avoid similar setbacks. Quality assessments of paper materials and production standards remain under evaluation to address earlier complaints about inferior publications. The government also approved a two-phase vaccine acquisition strategy for the Expanded Programme on Immunization. Officials requested that UNICEF reduce commission rates while exploring competitive bidding options for future purchases.
