Durban construction site accident kills man, injures four

A construction worker died Tuesday after falling from scaffolding at a Durban shopping mall. Four other workers suffered injuries during the same accident at the Springfield Park construction site. Emergency teams arrived at the scene and found the victim had already passed away. The dead worker was a man about 40 years old according to medical responders.

The injured workers received treatment for wounds ranging from moderate to severe. ALS Paramedics transported all four patients to Ahmed Kathrada Hospital for emergency care. Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics confirmed the details about the casualties. Medical teams worked quickly to help the survivors who needed urgent treatment. The accident happened during morning work hours when the crew was building at the shopping center.

Police officers started an investigation after learning about the workplace accident. The construction crew had been working on high scaffolding when they fell to the ground. Authorities will examine what caused the workers to fall from their elevated work area. The shopping mall construction project continues as investigators study the accident scene.
