Cops got busted again for shaking down drivers. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission arrested three traffic officers from Sondu police station after a surveillance sting on the Kisumu Kisii Highway. Following numerous complaints from motorists, investigators caught the officers demanding bribes without even checking vehicles. Cash was recovered during the arrest at that location.
This follows a similar bust days prior, where two officers were arrested on the Likoni Lungalunga Road in the Coast region. Both operations are part of a wider festive season crackdown on road corruption. The EACC stated it is increasing surveillance on services prone to graft. The three Sondu officers were processed in Kisumu and booked at a local police station. The commission warned all officers involved in corruption would face legal consequences and asked the public to keep reporting these incidents.
