Easter and Zimbabwe Independence Day finally line up

Church leaders see divine meaning in the meeting of Independence Day and Easter for the first time since 1980. They point out that both events center on sacrifice through bloodshed.

Apostle Stephen Mangwanya of the New United Apostolic Faith Church believes this rare calendar alignment holds special significance. He says national heroes shed blood for freedom just as Jesus died for spiritual salvation. The parallel shows how people gained independence from colonial rule through war casualties, similar to how Christians receive salvation through Christ's sacrifice.

Mangwanya urges people to remember history and remain faithful to community values. He says rebellion comes from criticism without responsibility. His message connects historical sacrifice with spiritual redemption and asks people to consider their roles in both areas.

Apostle Benjamin Joseph Murata adds that rules existed during both the liberation struggle and Easter celebrations. He compares military discipline with spiritual guidelines for communion. After partaking in holy communion, people should grow more loving, he says. Murata also emphasizes that youth must avoid drugs to help build the nation.

Both church leaders stress peace preservation and warn about war's destructive nature. They ask followers to value unity and remain loyal to religious and national principles.
