The Election Commission met with journalists on Monday as part of consultation sessions before the 13th national election. Electronic media representatives gathered at 10:30 a.m., and print and online media editors convened at 2:30 p.m., according to Election Commission Assistant Director Md Ashadul Haque.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin led the discussion with four election commissioners, the senior secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, and other senior officials. The commission invited 25 representatives from television and online outlets, and 17 editors from print publications participated in separate sessions.
The dialogue series began on Sept. 28 with civil society members, intellectuals, and academics. The commission plans to meet women representatives on Oct. 7, and will later consult with political parties and July uprising victims. Thirty civil society members and intellectuals received invitations for the first session, but 14 attended, and 33 academicians were invited for the second phase, with 15 participating.
