ECG butchers Accra, Ashanti power supply

The Electricity Company of Ghana announced planned power cuts on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in parts of Greater Accra, Central, and Ashanti to carry out maintenance. The exercise will last seven to eight hours by location to improve service and stabilize supply. In Greater Accra from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., areas such as Odorkor, Darkuman and Darkuman Zongo, Paa Dan, Israel, Alhaji, New Bortianor, Red Top, Sonaplast and nearby communities will be off grid. The Central Region will see 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. outages in Gomoa Dawurampong, Gomoa Osedzi, Gomoa Debiso, and Gomoa Abrekum, while Ashanti areas such as Agona, Wiamoase, Jamase, Nsuta, Beposo, Mampong and its hospital, Ghana Water Company, Kwamang, Amoaman, Brofoyedru, Jeduako, and Kumawu face the same window. ECG apologized for the disruption, said the work supports a more reliable network, and noted stepped up maintenance nationwide to cut unplanned outages.
