Econet Victoria Falls Marathon Set for July 2025, Promises World-Class Experience

Zimbabwe prepares for its annual Victoria Falls Marathon on July 6, 2025. The race marks its 18th year and attracts runners from around the world. Econet Group sponsors the event and expects more than 5,000 people to participate. The marathon takes place near one of Africa's most famous waterfalls. Organizers promise a world-class experience for all athletes.

Dr Douglas Mboweni leads Econet Group and oversees marathon preparations. He says the event brings together elite runners and families for fun races. The marathon offers three different distances for various skill levels. Participants can choose from a full 42.2-kilometer race, a half marathon, or a shorter family run. The theme this year celebrates African legends and victory.

Econet Deputy CEO Roy Chimanikire handles event logistics and safety planning. He works with local authorities and emergency services to ensure smooth operations. New technology will help with runner registration and race tracking during the event. Hotels have already sold out their rooms for marathon weekend. Restaurants and small businesses expect busy crowds during the racing period.

The marathon provides major economic benefits for Victoria Falls and nearby communities. Tourism operators see increased bookings from international visitors who come for the race. Local transport companies and souvenir sellers also profit from the weekend activities. The event showcases Zimbabwe's natural beauty and hospitality to a global audience. Marathon organizers aim to promote health and wellness through competitive running.
