Enugu Capital Territory Development Chairman Uche Anya says claims about his arrest are false. He told reporters that ECTDA does not award contracts but focuses on master plan enforcement. Anya paid a friendly visit to the new Anti-Corruption Commissioner that lasted about two hours. He went with Augustine Nnamani to explain why his agency sent letters checking property approval status. The investigation involved more than 500 properties, including the anti-graft office.
Anya mentioned that a complaint from Alex Ogbodo came after he refused to make him Head of Development Control. He described the allegations as malicious lies with no basis. The chairman explained he appointed Emike Ikechukwu because she holds a Master's Degree. Ogbodo has many discipline problems from previous jobs. Anya said the former commissioner rejected Ogbodo when Josef Onoh sent him back to the Ministry of Lands.
During his meeting with the commissioner, Anya promised that the administration remains committed to fighting corruption. He suggested government requests should go through the Office of the State Secretary for proper authorization. Anya firmly stated that no fraud or detention was happening at all.
