Edo Police arrest officers for extorting N300000 from a furniture maker

Edo State law enforcement detained multiple officers after allegations surfaced regarding financial demands from a local furniture business owner. Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu announced the arrests during a Monday briefing with reporters in Benin City. Social media footage shared by an online personality prompted the investigation into the alleged wrongdoing. The detained personnel worked at the Oba market area command before authorities identified and apprehended them. Officials returned the N300,000 payment to the affected business owner.

Disciplinary actions will proceed against the accused officers under standard Nigeria Police Force protocols. Administrative sanctions have targeted the entire Oba Market Area Command to promote better conduct standards. Citizens may file complaints about officer misconduct through the Public Complaints Bureau or Complaints Response Unit. Yamu emphasized the department's dedication to maintaining professional service standards. The command pledges continued accountability and ethical behavior in all operations.
