The European Union decided to give 10 million euros to help people who had to leave their homes in Central Sahel. These displaced families are now living in four coastal countries called Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo. The money will support both the refugees and the communities that welcome them.
Four major organizations will work together on this project called Unite. The International Organization for Migration, UN Refugee Agency, UNICEF, and World Food Programme will spend two years helping these communities. They want to make both groups stronger and more able to handle future problems.
Around 160,000 refugees and asylum seekers live in the northern parts of these four countries. Most of them came from Burkina Faso because of violence and danger back home. Many local communities already struggle with poverty and lack basic services like healthcare and schools.
Each organization has different jobs to do. Some will help farmers grow better crops and raise animals. Others will build better houses and bring electricity to villages. Schools will get support to teach refugee children alongside local kids.
The project aims to help people become independent rather than just giving emergency aid. Communities will learn new skills to earn money and grow food. This approach helps everyone work together and creates lasting solutions for the future.
