Ex Nssa Exec Walks Free After 25K Kariba Fraud

A court cleared former NSSA investment director Brian Murewa of fraud charges. Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei dismissed the case after state prosecutors failed to prove their accusations. Murewa faced claims he stole 25,000 dollars during a guest house purchase for the pension fund. His lawyer Tafadzwa Hungwe argued the charges lacked solid evidence. State witnesses gave conflicting testimony about the property deal.

Prosecutors claimed Murewa lied about the true cost of a Kariba guest house during 2021. The state alleged he told NSSA the property cost 240,000 dollars when the actual price was 215,000 dollars. Magistrate Ndirowei found the board had authorized Murewa to handle the transaction. The official agreement allowed him to spend money on behalf of the pension authority. Court records showed Murewa properly signed purchase documents with the property sellers.
