Fadillah stresses values in accounting

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has stated that the accounting profession must be reinforced by human integrity and moral judgment, not overtaken by automation. Speaking at the National Accountants Convention 4.0, he acknowledged that technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain can generate reports and analyze data. He emphasized, however, that these tools are only beneficial when guided by the wisdom and ethical standards of professional accountants.

Fadillah, who also serves as the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, explained that the modern accountant’s role is evolving into a strategic one, driving critical organizational decisions beyond simple record-keeping. He added that the profession is essential for navigating global risks and economic uncertainties.

He further highlighted that organizational success is now measured by Environmental, Social and Governance compliance, not just profit. Accountants, he said, act as guardians of values, ensuring transparent ESG reporting in line with national MADANI aspirations for stability and prosperity.
