The initiative targets 73 armed forces facilities, which contain over 59,000 residential units, through a partnership agreement signed last October between telecommunications regulators and defense officials. Butterworth Air Base receives priority status with projected completion by January 2026, followed by Subang Air Base installations.
Military personnel can access high-speed internet through the Perajurit Broadband service at 49 ringgit monthly for 100 megabit connections. New subscribers receive promotional pricing at 39 ringgit during their initial six months of service. Project delays occurred after the October announcement due to contractor selection procedures and mandatory security clearances for workers entering military installations. The minister emphasized that reliable internet access supports military families by enhancing education opportunities for children and improving overall household connectivity standards.
