Families of Gurung, Kashyap get Rs 5 lakh payout

Manipur authorities declared financial aid for victims after armed attackers struck Assam Rifles forces on September 19. The state government will provide five lakh rupees to bereaved families and two lakh rupees for wounded personnel. Officials promised complete medical care and rehabilitation support for the injured soldiers. Commissioner N. Ashok Kumar condemned the assault while expressing sympathy for affected families. The attack occurred in Bishnupur district when unidentified militants targeted a military convoy.

Armed groups ambushed troops traveling between Patsoi and Nambol bases along the Imphal-Dimapur highway. Two soldiers died during the encounter while five others sustained injuries from the assault. Naib-Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap lost their lives in the attack. The wounded personnel receive treatment at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and remain stable. Tribal communities organized protest marches in Churachandpur against the violence targeting security forces.
