Farmers across Kenya are making more money thanks to the government's helpful changes over the past two years.
The government helped farmers grow better crops like coffee, tea, milk, sugar, and corn. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said President William Ruto worked hard to make these good changes happen.
Tea farmers earned more money each year. In 2022, they earned 161 billion shillings, 81 billion shillings in 2023, and 210 billion shillings in 2024. Deputy President Kindiki explained this happened because farmers received cheaper fertilizer. The government also made new rules to protect farmers from people who tried to steal their money.
Coffee farmers also became happier because they earned more money for their coffee beans. For every bag of coffee they sold, farmers received more shillings than before. In 2022, they earned 60 shillings for each kilogram. In 2023, they earned 71 shillings. In 2024, they earned 100 shillings.
Dairy farmers who sell milk make more money as well. Two years ago, they earned 37 shillings for each liter of milk. Today, they earn 50 shillings. Sugar farmers received extra money for the first time in many years.
The government wants to help more farmers grow different crops like rice, wheat, potatoes, and avocados. Deputy President Kindiki promised Kenya would grow enough sugar and corn this year. The country will not need to buy these foods from other countries.
Deputy President Kindiki visited Kiambu County to check on new projects. He said President Ruto cares about making Kiambu better because many people there voted for him. The government will fix all the broken roads in Kiambu, bring electricity to more homes, and build new houses and markets in places like Ruiru, Thika, Limuru, and Kikuyu.
The Deputy President said President Ruto wants to help people instead of fighting with other politicians. He believes making people's lives better matters more than how long someone stays president.
