Fatal Chiredzi crash mars FC Platinum victory, injures fans

A supporters' bus carrying FC Platinum fans crashed head-on with a Toyota Hilux vehicle 25 kilometers from Chiredzi while returning from an away match. The collision killed the Hilux driver instantly and injured several supporters who received treatment at nearby medical facilities. FC Platinum had defeated GreenFuel 1-0 in Chisumbanje through Jarrison Selemani's late free kick before the tragedy occurred. The accident transforms what should have been a celebratory journey into grief for the club community. Police have launched an investigation into the crash circumstances.

This incident compounds recent misfortunes for FC Platinum following midfielder Brian Banda's death in a separate vehicle accident near Filabusi last month. Banda perished when his Proton Bakeries transport overturned while avoiding another collision, killing two people in total. Winger Oscar Bhebhe also suffered a broken arm in yet another crash shortly before Banda's death. These repeated tragedies have sparked demands for enhanced safety measures during long-distance travel to league matches. The club had not issued any official response regarding the latest incident.
