FIFA bans Golden Arrows from signing new players over Mutizwa dispute

FIFA has imposed a player registration ban on Lamontville Golden Arrows following the South African club's failure to resolve a financial dispute with former striker Knox Mutizwa. The sanction prevents the Premier Soccer League team from signing new players for up to three transfer windows until outstanding compensation is paid to the Zimbabwean forward, whose contract was terminated without proper settlement.

The world governing body confirmed the restriction in correspondence to Golden Arrows and the South African Football Association, citing the club's non-compliance despite previous rulings. Mutizwa, who scored more than 50 goals during seven seasons with the Durban-based side before departing in 2023, successfully challenged the termination through FIFA's dispute resolution chamber.

The registration freeze threatens to undermine squad reinforcement efforts for the mid-table team under coach Steve Komphela, with the ban remaining active until financial obligations are fulfilled or three complete registration periods expire.
