Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his efforts to secure victory for parliamentary candidate Newton Kariuki in the Mbeere North by-election. The former deputy president conducted door-to-door visits across Nthawa Ward, including stops at Kageeri Shopping Center and Kiandu Market, where he warned against voter intimidation and urged residents to support Kariuki as someone who grasps local challenges and remains answerable to constituents.
Joined by former cabinet secretaries Justin Muturi and Mithika Linturi alongside Manyatta legislator Gitonga Mukunji, Gachagua described his grassroots mobilization as part of a liberation movement aimed at building national unity. He emphasized visiting households individually to spread his message while portraying Kariuki as deeply connected to community concerns.
Kariuki faces strong opposition from United Democratic Alliance contender Leonard Wamuthende, whose campaign has drawn backing from Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku as the contest approaches.
