Gachagua Criticizes Housing Levy Over Transparency

Mr Gachagua thinks the house-building plan needs clearer rules. He spoke about this after people said he wasn't good at his job. He worries because he tried to say these things before.

He asked why some people must pay money from their jobs for new houses. Many of these people already own homes, and others are paying back the money they borrowed to build their houses. Mr Gachagua believes this isn't fair.

President Ruto started this house plan last year. He made a rule that people who work must give money from their pay. The rule says workers give a small part of their earnings, and their bosses must match that money. Many people didn't like this rule and went to court about it.

The new house plan arrived with other money rules, which made many things cost more money. People already found it hard to buy what they needed because prices kept going up.

President Ruto says the house plan helps poor people find homes, creates jobs for people who need work, and helps Kenya borrow less money from other countries. Kenya owes a lot of money right now, and President Ruto wants to fix that.
