Gachagua Leads Opposition at Machakos Mass

Rigathi Gachagua, who previously served as deputy president, has joined the congregation for Sunday mass at Gospel Confirmation Centre—Kenya Church located in Machakos County. Alongside his wife Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, he stands at the forefront of numerous opposition politicians participating in the religious gathering today. The motorcade carrying the former second-in-command reached the church premises situated beyond Machakos town limits at approximately 10:30 AM Sunday. Upon arrival, church officials and community leaders welcomed Gachagua warmly as a young girl presented him with a flower.

He signed the visitor's registry before entering the main sanctuary to join fellow worshippers. Several prominent Ukambani regional leaders have attended the service, with most representing the Wiper Democratic Party-Kenya political affiliation. The distinguished attendees include Francis Mwangangi, Deputy Governor of Machakos, Senator Agnes Kavindu, Kathiani representative Robert Mbui, Kilome parliamentarian Thaddeus Zambia, Machakos women's representative Joyce Kamene, and Victor Munyaka, who formerly served as Machakos MP. Their presence underscores the significant political dimension of this religious event happening today.

The gathering demonstrates continued support for the former deputy president among key political figures from the eastern region. Religious venues often serve as important meeting points for Kenyan political leaders seeking to maintain connections with their constituencies. The Sunday service provides an opportunity for these officials to engage with community members through shared spiritual practices. Residents expressed appreciation for the high-profile visitors attending their church community gathering.
