Gambia Olympics Chief Elected to ANOCA Zone 2 Board

Bai Dodou Jallow will serve on the executive board for ANOCA's Zone 2. ANOCA stands for the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa. Jallow is also the president of Gambia's National Olympics Committee, or GNOC. He won the seat during a General Assembly meeting in Bamako, Mali, on February 25th.

Having a Gambian on the board is a big deal. It shows the country's growing role in Africa's Olympic community. The executive board has some other new members, too. They'll serve from 2025 to 2028.

Habib Sissoko from Mali is the president. Abderrahmane Ethmane from Mauritania and Ben Daouda Nassoko from Guinea are the vice presidents. Seydina Omar Diagne of Senegal will be the secretary general. Mali's Abdoulaye Coulibaly is the treasurer. Sergio Mane from Guinea-Bissau will handle internal auditing.

Several other people join Bai Dodou Jallow as regular board members. They include Filomena Fortes, an International Olympic Committee member, and Prince Vandy Sualley from Sierra Leone. The board's diversity reflects the whole region. It has officials from across West Africa.
