Ghana police arrest 2 for torturing 12-year-old boy over GHS200 theft

Police officers have arrested two men for hurting a 12-year-old child over claims he stole money. The suspects tied the boy with rope and hung him from a building roof before beating him severely. Issah Morro age 58 and Suleman Abdul Rashid age 27 face charges after a video showed their actions. The incident happened at New Ankasa near Elubo in Ghana's Western Region. Officers say the boy allegedly took 200 cedis from the men.

A viral recording sparked public anger when people saw the child's treatment. Police from Half Assini Division saved the boy and brought him to safety. Medical workers treated his injuries before officers returned him to his father. The two suspects remain behind bars as investigators continue their work.

Police Superintendent Olivia Adiku released details about the rescue operation. Her statement confirmed that officers had arrested both men who appeared on the video. The police department promised to protect citizens from similar attacks. Officials asked residents to report any dangerous behavior to their local police stations immediately.
