Ghana Sets July 2, 2025, as the Start of the 24-Hour Economy Programme

Ghana will launch its 24-hour economy program on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The government plans to create jobs and boost productivity through round-the-clock business operations. Presidential Advisor Goosie Tanoh announced the start date during a Thursday meeting with Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin. The National Democratic Congress made this policy a key campaign promise before the 2024 elections. Officials say the program will change how Ghana's economy works.

The program rests on three main goals. Leaders want to transform how the country produces goods. They aim to strengthen supply chains and markets. The plan also focuses on building better workforce skills. Eight smaller programs will support these main objectives.

Four major initiatives will drive the economy forward. Roll 24 targets agricultural improvements. Make 24 focuses on manufacturing growth. Connect 24 works to improve supply systems. Aspire 24 promotes a culture of higher productivity among citizens.

The program adds digital training to technical education schools. This prepares young people for new job opportunities. The Show Ghana project promotes cultural tourism to attract foreign money. Officials believe this will boost international income.

Speaker Bagbin supports the plan but wants strong laws to protect it. He urged lawmakers to create legislation that survives political changes. The July launch date marks what leaders call a major shift for Ghana's economic future.
