GJA Wants NPP VP Busted for Threatening Journos

The Ghana Journalists Association wants police to arrest NPP leader Alhaji Osman Masawudu immediately. He scared reporters with threats on Ash FM radio in Kumasi. The NPP third national vice chairman said he would hurt Media General staff who come to party events. Many press freedom groups are angry about his words. Media workers across Ghana have spoken against these threats.

This problem started earlier when cameras caught Masawudu pushing away a TV3 microphone during a news briefing. People called his actions hostile toward the press. The GJA believes such behavior puts journalists at risk when they cover political stories. They worry that other party members might copy him if he faces no consequences. Media rights defenders say his actions go against press freedom rules that all political parties should respect.
