Gold reached an all-time high in Bangladesh after the Bangladesh Jewellers Association increased 22-carat prices to 197,576 taka per bhori on Sunday. The association raised rates by 2,192 taka per bhori, and buyers must pay 5 percent value-added tax along with a minimum 6 percent fabrication fee that varies by design.
The group set 21-carat gold at 188,595 taka per bhori, while 18-carat gold sold for 161,651 taka, and traditional gold cost 134,253 taka. The previous record stood at 195,384 taka per bhori for 22-carat gold on Sept. 30 after the association announced the increase on Sept. 29.
