Google rep blames Samsung charger for Pixel’s swollen battery

A Google service center employee in Delhi reportedly blamed a customer's swollen Pixel battery on her use of a Samsung charger. The woman had brought her malfunctioning phone for warranty service, only to be told the third-party adapter caused the problem. According to an eyewitness post on social media, it is unclear if she ultimately received a repair or replacement.

Industry experts note that using a different brand's certified charger typically does not cause battery swelling, as modern adapters and devices regulate power delivery. The more likely cause is prolonged use, age, or a manufacturing defect. This incident highlights a potential tactic to deny warranty claims by shifting blame to the consumer.

Google's Pixel line has faced various hardware complaints in recent years, including overheating issues and battery defects. The company previously released software updates for some models that deliberately reduced battery capacity and charging speed to address safety concerns. Critics argue that such measures, along with questionable service center practices, could push customers toward competing brands.
