Government Scrubs Dubious Kamalo Land Deals

Government Cancels Kamalo Extension Land Allocations.

The government has canceled all land allocations at the Kamalo Extension. This was the prime industrial area along the Banjul-Serekunda highway.

A multi-sectoral task force investigated claims of improper land deals there. Lands Minister Hamat Bah shared the findings yesterday.

All Kamalo Extension plots have been revoked. People who landed there will be notified in writing. This does not impact the main Kamalo Proper area.

However, anyone with multiple plots in Kamalo Proper will lose the extra allocations. Kamalo Proper plots without ministry approval are also void.

"Kamalo has 40 plots total. 12 have been forfeited to the state. All 28 Kamalo Extension plots are canceled," said Bah.

JFR Trading, Hydara Foam Manufacturing, and GQ Trading Company Limited had multiple Kamalo Proper plots.

The task force suggested canceling the entire Kamalo Layout. But legal opinion advised a different option.

The report underwent an extensive review process. The Ministry of Justice provided guidance, and then the government adopted the recommendations.
