Government officials completed the ZWG$14 million rehabilitation of the Kwekwe-Zhombe Road on Friday, delivering relief to motorists who previously endured hazardous travel conditions. The 40-kilometer project connects Kwekwe district with Gokwe North and South districts as part of Zimbabwe's infrastructure development campaign. Minister Owen Ncube commissioned the roadway at Zororo Shopping Centre in Zhombe, highlighting the achievement as evidence of President Mnangagwa's leadership priorities. Construction teams completed the eight-week project within the contracted timeframe after beginning work in March. Four local contractors divided the roadway into 10-kilometer sections, applying 20-millimeter asphalt overlays while constructing bus stops and installing proper signage. Zada Construction, Douflex Investment, Derivative Resources and Road Trackers executed the Treasury-funded project according to Southern African Transport and Communications Commission Standards. The rehabilitation represents part of the Second Republic's Heritage-Based Modernisation and Industrialisation program.
