Zimbabwe's education ministry has rejected a fraudulent 2026 school calendar circulating on social media platforms after the false schedule triggered confusion among parents and guardians preparing for the upcoming academic year. Minister Torerayi Moyo confirmed that classes will commence on January 13, contradicting the viral message claiming a January 26 start date, and emphasized that he approved the authentic calendar two months earlier.
The genuine schedule establishes 57 instructional days for the opening term, a 34-day vacation period, and a second term spanning from May 12 through August 6 with 67 days of instruction. The final term will operate from September 8 until December 3. Officials urged families to verify information through government channels and school communications rather than unconfirmed social media posts.
